If you don't mind staying a little ways from the beach, this could be the place for you. Scotts Valley is about 15 minutes outside of Santa Cruz/the beach and is a relatively quiet area.
The quality at this hotel is what you would expect from any Hilton--top notch. The main problem is that it's not really in Santa Cruz, by my definition. It is in Scotts Valley.
If you are here to visit the beaches or downtown Santa Cruz, you should either have a car with you or plan on taking a cab on a regular basis (which is really a drag in Santa Cruz. Calling our taxi companies very slow is a huge understatement; usually 30 minutes to an hour for a cab).
If you're in town for business, or don't mind a brief drive the Hilton is a great place. If you want beach fron action, you should probably check out another hotel.
